Believe as I am told?

There are any number of thing over the past few years that are not believable, but yet there they are. I see them and for a second I think for my head might explode, well that's the way we say it anyway.  I have not learned to just accept even though I know there is a kind of  freedom if I do. That acceptance, though i have tried; vaguely, it scares me to much.

As of  Monday I am to believe I am a racist, misogynist, anarchist and a torture lobbyist. I am also expected to accept the definition of what those are according to the expert that is speaking at that moment. Believe as I am told? Accept?

Obama's Address to Congress

Live Blog from Gateway Pundit

"REPUBLICANS APPLAUD to the promise to not leave deficit to our children. A lie!
A plan free of Earmarks --- A HUGE LIE!
The democrats are shameless. Absolutely shameless.
We will cut weapons systems.
We will end tax breaks to corporations that ship jobs overseas."

Live Blog at Ace of Spades

"Ah, we've got to sacrifice some worthy priorities, including "me." He does this childlike overpronounciation on the last word in a sentence, like do. He does that a lot.

I have no fucking idea what he's talking about now. Honestly, I don't.

I'm sorry, I guess I'm ending the live blog, it's just blah blah blah, I swear I cannot focus on this man's empty words long enough to render his sentences sensible.

Bad Moment for Obama: Talks bullshit about keeping deficits down, but gets Republicans cheering until embarrassed and then flashes a fuck-you look as he laughs it off."

It was what I suspected. More up beat, no detail and he continues to run. Some odds and ends.

Not blame, will look back to learn from our mistakes? what history is he looking at?

He doesn't believe in big government? Okay but his beliefs lead to big government.

Force Adjustments and strings to banks. How about no bail outs or no string? Free market anyone?

He is used capitalist rhetoric well. There is no evidence he believes it.

How well does massive investment by government in science do exactly?

Energy. How are we getting from now to the new energy future? Oil? no Natural gas, can't drill for that either. That is one way to go

Something about the bad choices of the auto industry? Including Unions?

Government is going to find a cure for cancer? I think there was a West Wing on that.

I don't want those who (my best guest) likes economic and social justice touching education.

Health care? Hands off buccko. More on that latter.

Cradle to work education?

Better teachers? Kill the Unions?

Are charter schools really the answer? Make all of them great schools?

Play for pay = collage for social work?

Major on Fox, paraphrasing.
people are not trusting capitalism so they feel they have room for more big government.

Exactly what I expected. How many fell for it?

Pre Obama Speakes to Congress

The preview hype is just out of control. He will be a little more hopeful. Not much because he can't. He will again press for big gov./socialist programs. Same old Same old. Keep the campaign going. Lost of big picture no detail populist rhetoric.

It's The Policy, Stupid
"The country and the economy don't need another speech. We need better policy. President Obama is permanently stuck in campaign mode, and as DJ notes below, believes everyone still buys his pitch. It is manisfestly apparent that President Obama believes he can talk his way out of this bad economy and policy debacle. Smartpeople are betting otherwise."
Bingo!

Gibbs Says the Anti-War Socialist Will Give Reaganesque Speech

"Does anyone out there recall President Ronald Reagan promoting trillion dollar spending bills, appeasing enemies, slashing defense spending, raising taxes on the rich, expanding the welfare state, redistributing wealth, funding foreign abortions, and promoting socialized medicine?(cont.)

Only a fool would believe that the Democrat's expansion of government, historic spending, and tax hikes for the rich will bring similar results."

Obama aims for sober honesty, optimism in address
"—He inherited the mess, and a quick turnaround is unlikely. Not only did the recession emerge on Bush's watch, the Bush approach wasn't the right one.

"—Thinking short-term won't do the trick. Focusing even amid the crisis on longer-term goals such as helping the millions without health insurance and switching the U.S. to greater dependence on alternative energy sources is crucial to the nation's economic well-being. "

So it is not his or his parties fault and It will take lots of time to fix. Never faced it before so never before seen solutions. Great?!

Preview of Obama's Speech
"It is befuddling that the public continues placing great trust in Obama to make the right economic decisions despite not having liked his previous ones very much."

Prosecute The Leaks

Obama will not prosecute leaks of national security leaks Bush should have. He may not of been able to win. It would have however sent a signal. The leak under Bush where the beginigs of the wire tap and torture stories. Stories that where spun in all kinds of eivil America directions. Just may be some of these reportes wouold think twice.

NY Times Leaks Classified Military Information... Again

Yesterday, the Old Gray Lady broke the news that America Special Forces soldiers were training Pakistani troops to fight the Taliban and Al-Qaeda and that the operations were larger and more ambitious than previously acknowledged.

Book Burning

Just the links cause my head is going to explode.

via Iconic Midwest
‘Too Christian’ for Academia?

"But protests from a small group of scholars associated with the project have led the press to postpone publication, recall all copies already distributed, and destroy the existing print run. The scholars’ complaint? The Encyclopedia of Christian Civilization, they have reportedly argued, is “too Christian.” “They also object to historical references to the persecution and massacres of Christians by Muslims,” Kurian says, “but at the same time want references favorable to Islam.”'

Blackwell Scrapes Encyclopedia

"The encyclopedia has been pulled by the publisher, and existing copies are being sought out and destroyed."
Followed by an E-mail about the matter.

In other News Federal Book burnig.
Via The Book Burning Begins
The New Book Banning: Children’s books burn, courtesy of the federal government.

"under a law Congress passed last year aimed at regulating hazards in children’s products, the federal government has now advised that children’s books published before 1985 should not be considered safe and may in many cases be unlawful to sell or distribute. Merchants, thrift stores, and booksellers may be at risk if they sell older volumes, or even give them away, without first subjecting them to testing—at prohibitive expense. Many used-book sellers, consignment stores, Goodwill outlets, and the like have accordingly begun to refuse new donations of pre-1985 volumes, yank existing ones off their shelves, and in some cases discard them en masse."

"Penalties under the law are strict and can include $100,000 fines and prison time, regardless of whether any child is harmed. The threat to old books has surfaced so quickly in recent weeks that the elite press still seems unaware of it. "

"The wider pattern of CPSIA’s disruptive irrationality and threat to small businesses has been covered reasonably well by the local press around the country. Some papers have investigated particular aspects of the law—the Los Angeles Times has tracked its menace to the garment industry, and the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal the general plight of thrift stores—but almost no one has cared to consider the law’s broad array of unintended consequences, let alone ask what went wrong in the near-unanimous rush to passage of this feel-good law."

This kind of thing is how you end up in a 21st century dictatorial communist nightmare. It all just not wright any more or just quirky little unintended consequences any more. It is dangerous to the existence of America.

There is a Problem. The Fairness Doctrine is Not the Answer.

There is very much a problem in the media. The left leaning types demonize business, race bait and paint every thing with a big government solution. The right leaning types commonly drop little facts, constantly fall back on religion and the constitution with little explanation (even if they are right) and write off groups like the humanists and segment of the culture they can't seem to understand.

The solution is not the Fairness Doctrine. You need many more fair journalists. And more entertaining commentators that are willing to be fun and inquisitive. I have mentioned Dave Glover in this area before and he is a good example, although he has gone more to the entertainment side of late.

From: Broadcast Blackout of Left’s 'Fairness' Doctrine Push
New York Senator Charles Schumer: "The very same people who don’t want the Fairness Doctrine want the FCC to limit pornography on the air," Schumer told the Fox News Channel. "You can’t say, ‘government hands off in one area’ to a commercial enterprise, but you’re allowed to intervene in another. That’s not consistent."
Talk radio and porn are the same thing to the government? The whole thing is insane. I am not diving to far into this, because well it is insane. There is a good chance it will happen like the rest of the insanity. Others have gotten in to it.

The Fairness Doctrine: What You May Not Know

"If you are unfamiliar with The Fairness Doctrine...and perhaps "fairness" sounds like a good thing, here is an example of what such a doctrine, more commonly known today as a "censorship doctrine," would require: if Rush Limbaugh has a 3 hour daily program, that station must allow a 3 hour daily program with an opposing viewpoint - think the failed Air America, Al Franken, Randi Rhodes. If sponsors do not want to advertise on an unpopular show, because no one listens, then what? I don't think we know."
And there are links to the left. And look like they are going to paint the right as the problem.

Podesta's Media Matters Paves the Way For Fairness Doctrine

They are starting early and going hard at the right. Is this the Obama Nuclear Option? Time will tell.

The Creepy Obama Victory Speech

I went back to the text. there many thing that is strongly dis agree with but nothing by itself that was massively out of bounds. Remembering the speech at one point it sounded very socialistic, communistic. Then he went into nationalist rhetoric. Nothing wrong with nationalist rhetoric. Then it hit me. The cornerstone of any good take over, especially a communist one, is national rhetoric. Russia, China, Germany, Cuba ect. And it is the cornerstone of the ongoing propaganda to keep people on board. Of course it begins with the Cult of Personality at the top.

We are not there yet, just be aware and be warned.

I am not the only one who found it strange.

Hot Air » Blog Archive » Newsweek editor: Obama’s cult of personality is “slightly creepy,” isn’t it?

And From It's Time To Restore Liberty - Forbes.com

"The irony is that Obama arrives at the threshold of the White House steeped in ideas that subordinate individual freedom to the collective. In his campaign and his victory speech, Obama declares that America's "timeless creed" is now, "yes, we can." This is not a defense of liberty. It is a declaration so malleable and generic that it could have applied to anything from Lenin's Bolshevik Revolution to the Little Engine that Could"

Finding Barack Obama

I worry that I have a completely distorted view of Barack Obama. Is he really a socialist, Marxist, or communist. The last two would be very 1984 and harder to pin down. The first would be enough to off put most people, I hope.

I wonder if i read to much Conservative writing. Then I look at who he has worked with, what he has said and what he has done an I am back to how is he not losing by double digits. Put aside the skepticism and the partisan filters and look for a while.

I have tried not to link to the less credible and right wing talking points. Get a drink, sit, read and question.

Thank you to American Thinker for its continued collecting of thoughtful articles.

Start here with the overview

Why Obama's socialism matters
"It took Marx and Engels to carry socialism to the next level, in which they envisioned the complete overthrow of all governments, with the workers of the world uniting so that all contributed to a single socialist government, which in turn would give back to them on an as needed basis. Assuming that you're not big on individualism and exceptionalism, this might be an attractive doctrine as a way to destroy want and exploitation, except for one thing: It does not take into account the fact that the state has no conscience. "
This article is part 3 of 3 with foot notes and the like. Draw a different conclusion if you want but look at the source and decide for yourself.

Obama's Religious Ruse: The Cult of the Marxist Messiah
"For Obama, that "larger project" of his agenda is America's servitude to Marxist socialism, for which Christian verbiage can be made a tool of manipulation. As far back as 1995 Wright's disciple and Bill Ayers' protégé disclosed that to establish the "new age" of collectivist "salvation" will require compulsory "sacrifice" of Americans' liberty:"
Some of the connections in Obama's early days are a little sketchy. There is a link to a great post Obama, the Closer at NRO

Obama's Radical Revolution:Its Alinsky Root and Global Vision
"It was time for the radicals to change tactics, and follow Alinsky's advice. They remained convinced of their destiny to be the ones to bring the U.S.A. into the fold of the international socialist collective. They began to organize, go to law school, run for public office, whittle away at traditional American institutions, and in all ways prepare for "The One," their closer."
I am not for linking Obama to Ayers but some direct questions need to be asked of Obama not on his relationship with him but on what Obama thinks about specific ideas Ayers believes.

On Bill Ayers and small 'c' communists
"Now when your friendly neighborhood "small ‘c' communist" comes along, all smiles, and offering love and peace, we need to say just one thing: One Hundred Million. If that doesn't wipe the smile off their faces they are beyond human reach. By that act of willed ignorance they have exiled themselves from the company of decent people."
All that said there is not a crystal clear link to a socialist/Marxist view from Obama, just a very strong circumstantial case. Enough for me to run and hide if he gets in. Maybe he is just at the very collectivist/giant government end of the liberal spectrum. Then there is this.

Obama's Global Tax
"Senator Barack Obama's sponsorship of Senate Bill 2433 aligns with the emerging core theme of his general election campaign. The change he promises will bring much-needed relief, not just to America's victims of economic injustice, but to victims worldwide."
Liberals Rethink Free Speech
"Enter the Obama campaign, which reflects the new ethos. It twice issued "Obama Action Wire" alerts for activists to call a Chicago radio station and try to shut down appearances by two Obama critics, writers Stanley Kurtz and David Freddoso. No "chilling effect" here. CNN and the Chicago Tribune reported on the effort to silence Obama's detractors, but mostly by way of noting the Obama camp's tech-savvy mustering of its supporters."

Obama Wages War on Freedom of Speech
"If candidate Obama is willing to have people arrested when they say things about him that he doesn’t like, will President Obama have the vision or courage or understanding to stand up against the OIC when it demands restrictions on freedom of speech at precisely the same time that he wants to build bridges to the Islamic world and demonstrate his power to restore hope and bring change to old stalemated conflicts?
Obama's Toothless Second Amendment
"Obama's view is similar to that of Justice Stephen Breyer, who dissented from the Supreme Court's decision. Even if the Second Amendment protects an individual right to armed self-defense, Breyer said, that right has to be weighed against "other important governmental interests." And since a gun law like D.C.'s might reduce violent crime (never mind the lack of evidence that it actually has), the courts should yield to legislators' judgments about how best to strike the balance."

You want to see what the results of all this look to the U.K. It is NOT pretty!

SO? Huge government, redistribution of wealth, government knows best, social justice, heavy regulation of business (big business is evil), criminalizing speech and taking the guns away.

Only the Government can save you, not you or your neighbors or capitalism or your God, Only the government, the government is your family is your God. 1984?

1984 Commith!

There is a chilling of speech.
Read your history or wake up in the USSR

There is an intellectual dishonesty.
Obama's 95% Illusion:It depends on what the meaning of 'tax cut' is.

There is more just plain shouting down.

It is not on just the streets. It has been elevated and institutionalized.

Bad, Irrelevant and Good Speech

I am in the store a couple of days ago. Go to the register and begin to put my items on the ubiquitous conveyor. There is a woman, 35-40, kid in the cart , dress a little upscale(wouldn't fit in N.Y. or what one thinks of the mid west)typical for around here. She is talking to the girl behind the counter, 18-19 straight black hair, a little dark makeup around the eyes and a black tee under the apron, about buying something, i didn't hear. The counter girl with a soft enthusiasm tells the soccer mom type that it's black and goes well. I paraphrase poorly here. Soccer mom uncertain, comments back then counter girl says well i identify with Johnny Cash. I couldn't hold back a grin. Soccer mom, done paying any how, walked off, not that she had a problem with what was said she just didn't have anything to say to it.

Any who. yes any who. I wanted to say something to counter girl. I am not quick or articulate on my feet. So I said nothing. What was i going to say? Some platitude about being happy or the beauty of the world. There is some wisdom in it, not that she would hear, and it is way over the top. I wished i had a book or several that were on point, a philosophy , not modern pop psychology book that i could have suggested she read.

She will have to come to that on her own, like the rest of us on that and many other views. Some short term suggestive guidance that carries over is what was in order. You are not going to convince her that her view is short sighted, a fragment of what is the whole and if followed for to long and to far is self defeating. The thought is to point the way and let one find a path.

I tell you this why, bad ideas/speech and an overwhelming amount of partial or irrelevant ideas/speech. Olbermann and O'Reilly come to mind. It is draining us all, leading us down mostly irrelevant paths that go to nowhere or to places we don't recognize.

The answer to bad speech is good speech and we need mountains of it now. We can't get both from the same place. It has to come from people that we know or are completely unknown to us, everything else is tainted, so individuals. No one can stop for a three hour chat every time they hear half truths, falsities, illogical arguments or know were the path leads when they don't. They are not going to listen if you do have the time.

So we need to quickly point the way. As an example the 9/11 truthers. You will never change their mind with facts. You have to start by pointing them to books, articles, etc. on psychology of belief and our need for security. Then to group think and how it has lead to mistakes. Then let it go. Of course you can never mention 9/11 directly. They will have to come to the "never contribute to conspiracy what you can explain by incompetence or stupidity" Then to the fact that your never going to explain every little detail.

The answer i think is cards, like the decks with criminals on them. You hear something that is wrong, not just a difference of ideology, hand them a card. They would have the books or articles on them sectioned 1st, 2nd and so on and an e-mail of someone to fill in the gaps, preferably you. The more i think about it, it may not work with as many things as i think. Just a thought.
